Setting up a Beowulf Cluster: WEEK #2

After all the researches and also reading lots of articles about  building a Beowulf Cluster, the following decisions were taken by our team:

• 5 Pentium 3 computers used as Slave.
• 1 Pentium 4 computer used as Master.
• Names given to the computers.
• Specifications of  5 Slave Computers were noted.

The names of the 5 computers were chosen to be the names of the 5 earth elements (in Sanskrit language). We wanted the names to be something interesting. So we came up with the following:

Master Computer : "Prithvi" meaning Earth

Slave Computers -:

       Computer 01 - "Agni" meaning Fire

       Computer 02 - "Vayu" meaning Air

       Computer 03 - "Jal" meaning Water

       Computer 04 - "Dharti" meaning Land

       Computer 05 - "Jeevan" meaning Life

The Master Computer is named "Prithvi" meaning Earth. The other 5 Computers are named after the 5 Earth elements. The 5 elements of earth make up the Earth just like the 5 Slave Computers are present for the Master Computer. The 5 Slave Computers solve problems given by the Master Computer.

Specifications are as follows:

RAM :-

    2 computers have 128 MB RAM.

    Rest 3 have 256 MB  RAM.

Processor:-

    2 computers have 730 MHz Processor.

    3 computers have 1100 MHz Processor.

Hard Disk:-

    All the 5 computers have 40 GB space.
