Setting up Beowulf Cluster: WEEK #1

I am a computer engineering student, trying to set up the Beowulf Cluster for the Semester's Project.
Me and my friends (to be specific we are 5 students) are doing this project under the supervision of Mr. +Manoj Shakya. This is the  first week of setting up the Beowulf cluster.  This week consisted of lots of reading and research.

First of all what is a cluster?
Basically, cluster is a group of computers that perform parallel computing.

Then what does a Beowulf cluster mean?
Beowulf cluster is a name given to a cluster which uses off the shelf components or computers that perform parallel computing.
